In Ireland, medicine degrees however take five or six years to complete. And in the final year of study and the year after completing your degree, you will work as an intern in hospitals before certification.

Medical schools in Ireland are difficult but yet fun as you expect new things every day.

The challenge starts early on – even before application. As Irish medical schools have limited slots, hence only the best and brightest get in.

That means you should have good grades and a good score for the HPAT, an exam that is known to be fairly difficult.

Medical Schools in Ireland Requirements

Irish medical school entry requirements may also vary between universities.

All schools, however, require a minimum of 480 points, that you to sit the HPAT exam and most require a minimum of Leaving Certificate H4 in Science subjects.

Applicants must present a minimum of six subjects (2 x H4 and 4 x O6/H7) in the Irish Leaving Certificate, to include a minimum of an O6/H7 in Irish (unless Opens in new windowexempt), English, Mathematics, and a third language, plus a minimum of an H4 in Chemistry and an H4 in either Physics or Biology.

The six medical schools in Ireland however are; The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), Trinity College Dublin (TCD), University College Cork (UCC), University College Dublin (UCD), The University of Limerick (UL), and lastly, The National University of Ireland, Galway.

University College Cork (UCC)
